If you take IELTS on paper, your speaking test will take place on a different day to the other sections of the test, in a 7-day window before or after the main test day. You will receive an email confirming your Speaking test date 48-72 hours in advance. Whether you take IELTS on computer or paper, you can choose your Speaking test slot.

The actual test taken is the same as IELTS (for all other purposes), same content, examiners, format, level of difficulty, scoring and so on. If you are in doubt as to which test version to take, you should contact the organisation you are applying to check their requirements.

Receiving your results

Ielts Slot Booking British Council

  • Your results will be available 13 days after your test (3-5 days for computer-delivered IELTS).
  • Test centres will either post your Test Report Form to you or have it ready for you to pick up in person. Check the arrangement at your test centre.
  • You will receive one copy of your Test Report Form*. (*Those applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will receive two. You will need to provide the test centre with proof of application to IRCC.)
  • If you have nominated institutions to receive copies of your IELTS test results, these will be sent automatically on your behalf. Any additional copies will incur a small administration charge.
